ABSTRACT The study established the role of the stores function in the effectiveness of poultry breeding companies with specific reference to Ugachick poultry breeders. The study was guided by the following objectives; to examine the contribution of stores techniques, and practices to the effectiveness, evaluate how stores quality management systems have affected the effectiveness of and examine how stores technology and equipment relate to the effectiveness of Ugachick Poultry Breeders. The study adopted a descriptive study. A sample size of 50 individuals was selected to represent 70 target respondents from the 1000 workers. The study used both surveys and interview. The study findings revealed a number of storage techniques and practices in Ugachick Poultry Breeders. These included the following Minimum-Maximum inventory Just In-Time, Inventory recording technique, ABC stores analysis and Materials requirements planning (MRP) improves on stores efficiency. The study findings also revealed that Standardized Systems of Ugachick Poultry Breeders improve stores efficiency, Total Quality Management (TQM) reduces inventory duplication, Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI), improves on resource utilization, Stores Standards of quality improves on profitability, Quality Council trims inventory duplication, Me ~Lsure and compare stores improves resource utilization and Stores Quality Management Systems (SQMS), improve on profitability, improve resource utilization, improve efficiency, and reduce on inventory duplication. Lastly, the study revealed that Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) at Ugachick Poultry Breeders boosts profitability, Warehouse Management Systems (WIVIS) improves efficiency, Bar coding System reduces on costs and inventory duplication, Electronic Data Interchange improves on efficiency in store activities and Stores technology and equipment in Ugachick Poultry Breeders reduces on inventory costs, duplication, improves on profitability, resource utilization and efficiency. In conclusion therefore the study identified positive relationships between store functions and the effectiveness of the Poultry Breeding companies. Ugachick Poultry Breeders should forecast market for its products so that it stocks enough inventories to avoid under stocks and reduce on damaged inventory.
