ABSTRACT
The success of any business organization, whether in the private or public sector, lies mainly on the quality of its human resources.  The research sought to answer questions such a” what are the forms of training programmes existing in First Bank? Are there changes induced by the training of employee? Does training motivate workers to perform better? What are the roles of training on organizational growth? And is there a positi8ve relationship between training and workers productivity? Literature confirmed that training of manpower is a major prerequisite for any organization who wants to achieve maximum productivity through the efficiency and effective performance of employees. Training of emption, development of attitude and development of skills on employees. Review of literature also showed that organizations make use of no-the-job and off-the –job types of training to equip employees.  The sample size was determined using the categories of staff namely: senior management, intermediate and lower staff to give a total of 25   respondents.  Chi-square was used to test the postulated hypothesis.  The study revealed that training of employees induce changes both on the employee and the organization.  It was also revealed that training of employees motivates them to perform better.  Finally recommendation to the effect that firms should allocate substantial amount of money to staff training to increase the efficiency of workers was made.
