ABSTRACT


This research work examined effect of training and development on organizational effectiveness in selected organizations in Lagos State. In any organization employees contributes major assets. The active role they play towards a company's success cannot be underestimated, As a result, equipping these unique assets through effective training and development becomes imperative in order to maximize the job performance and position them to take on the challenges of today's competitive business climate. This thesis attempts to evaluate and analyze the effect of training and development on organizational effectiveness with particular reference to some selected organizations in Lagos State. The data were gathered from a sample of the study's population of 5 selected organizations within Lagos Metropolis. Simple percentage was used to analyse the data; Mean rating was used in analyzing the research question and Chi-square statistical tool was used in analyzing the hypotheses. In order to understand the study's aim, four goals were developed which focused particularly on identifying the training programme's existing in the organization, the objective of the training and development offered, the methods employed and finally the effects of training and development on employee performance. A qualitative research approach of the data collection was adopted using a questionnaire comprising of 15 questions distributed to 350 respondents and 320 copies were retrieved for data analysis. Based on this evaluate sample the results obtained indicate that training and development have a clear effect on the performance and effectiveness of employees. The findings can prove useful to Human resource managers, Human resource policy decision makers, as well as training and academic institutions.
