The study carried out an assessment to establish challenges of solid waste management in Makind_ye Division, Wabigalo Parish and to specifically assess community knowledge on Solid Waste Management, determine the obtaining attitudes and find out or establish community practices in regard to solid waste management. A cross-sectional study was undertaken in the Wabigalo parish where a sample size if a hundred respondents participated in the undertaking. Data was collected using mainly the quantitative data instruments mostly structured questionnaires were administered. The study established that the community of Wabigalo Parish is knowledgeable about good solid waste management methods. However it was established that regardless of the awareness, they had a poor attitude towards putting in to practice the knowledge due to lack or inadequate collection and storage facilities like public skips or gazetted central collection sites and long distances to the available skips. Half of the residents acknowledged taking their solid waste to the available public disposals. Residents perceive Kampala City Council is responsible for [disposing off the refuse. The community is knowledgeable about good solid waste management. There is poor attitude towards proper Solid Waste Management among the residents. Public facilities for Solid Waste Management are inadequate and the communities feel its Kampala City Council responsibility to dump the waste in their area.
