ABSTRACT
This research is undertaken to ascertain the role which mortgage institution can play in real estate development in Nigeria federal mortgage bank gave birth to other primary mortgage institutions. From 1993, the role played by this apex mortgage finance institution was delegated to other primary mortgage institution for the purpose of providing the much heeded fund for real estate development.
This study is designed to ascertain the reasons why housing problems is still very scute in our country, to discuss the nature of real estate an d how it is being financed, to discuss the prospects of the federal government policy on housing and to highlight on housing problems, need and responses.
