ABSTRACT 

investigator made a comparative analysis of students performance in mathematics in WAEC examination of 2015and 2020 academic session among secondary schools in Gwagwalada area council of the FCT. The study adopted a survey research design The population for the study was 3557 mathematics students in Gwagwalada area Council. The sample size for the study is 348 students. This sample size was gotten from Morgan and Krejcie population and sample size table and derived according to the formula.The study adopted a simple random sampling method, simple percentage and Chi-square (x2) statistic was used for the computation and analysis of the data collected. The study revealed that there was  a significance difference in students’ performances in mathematics between 2015 and 2020 WAEC scores among secondary schools in Gwagwalada Area Council and political activities,  Social Economic Status of parents, Teacher Quality, Students Attitudes towards Mathematics, Motivation and Availability of Teaching Resources were some of the factors affecting students performances in mathematics among secondary schools in Gwagwalada area council. The research suggest the following policy measure Teachers and schools authorities alike,  should limit their involvement in political activities when and where necessary in other to reduced the influence of it on the teaching and learning process.  Government and schools authorities should make sure that examinations are not taken during election period in other to interferences that may reflect on students performance negatively. School authorities should adequately guide and control students political activities in school when and where necessary in other to reduced the influence of it on their  learning process and performances mostly in science subject like mathematics and that teachers should be train adequately on various mathematical concepts on the use and implementation of teaching  aids in schools in other to improve their quality as teachers as recommendation of the  research report
