ABSTRACT

This study focused on the Effect of Environmental Administration on Corporate Social Responsibility in Ibadan, Oyo State. (A study of Nigerian Breweries). It examined the effect of CSR on organization survival in Nigeria. The study addressed if government environmental policy affect the provision of CSR. It evaluate the various program put in place by the companies and assessed the various factors affecting the provision of CSR in the light of government 

environmental policy in Ibadan.

Both primary and secondary sources of data collection were utilized for the study. The primary data were sourced through the use of questionnaire. Secondary data were collected from publications, internet materials. The data collected from the questionnaire were analyzed 

descriptively. The sampling technique used in selecting the sample for the study was stratified sampling technique. The data collected were presented in tables to present the frequency distribution of responses to the questionnaire. The researcher used the simple percentage and chi-

square to analyze the collected data. 

The results revealed the various means of executing or performing corporate social responsibility. The study shows that corporate social responsibility is executed through donation to organizations having social or environmental utility (89.9%), sponsorship of sport and cultural events (91.4%), construction and repair of roads (81.4%), partnership with government in 

providing relieve material for internally displaced persons, funding of nongovernmental organization as well as through sponsoring of education (78.3%). Furthermore, the study shows that provision of corporate social responsibility is affected by a number of factors which include: inadequate monitoring by government, corruption among government official (93%), non-

compliance by companies, policy inconsistency, overlapping of function of government agencies 

and inadequate government funding on environmental issues, the test reveals that government  

environmental policies affect the provision of corporate social responsibility by companies.

Finally, it was concluded that more stringent environmental policies effectively reduce the subsidies of business and government environmental policy affects the provision of corporate social responsibilities by companies.
