ABSTRACT This study was carried out on communication and employee performance in organisation. The problem was the many industrial disputes which originates due to failure m communication. The objectives were (I) To examine the different forms of communication, (2) To determine the effect of communication on employee performance and (3) To identify the various barriers to communication. The study was a survey involving collection of both quantitative and qualitative data through interviews, questionnaires and secondary data from journals and text books. The total population was I 82 and using Krejcie &Morgan's table of sampling I used sample population of 120 The findings reveal that verbal communication is the most used form of communication and nonverbal communication is the least form of communication used. It also revealed that communication has affected employee performance in the organisation and language barrier was the major barrier to communication and workforce diversity was the least barrier to communication. Verbal communication written communication and nonverbal communication are the fonns of communication used in the organisation. The finding also reveals that communication has affected employee performance in the organisation. It also stated that there several barriers to communication in the organisation which include language barrier defensiveness, workforce diversity, poor listening, lack of inappropriate feedback and rumours. Recommendation included training in different languages, ensuring feedback, follow up communication and ensuring consistency in communication in the ministry
