ABSTRACT This research examined the relationship between job design and employee satisfaction, a case study of college of economics and management at Kampala International University. It was guided by the following research objectives i) to examine the nature of job design ii) to examine the nature of employee satisfaction, iii) to examine the relationship between job design and employee satisfaction. The study comprised of a population of 92 respondents from which a sample size of 85 respondents was selected and a descriptive research design was used to collect data from the respondents using self-administered questiom1aires as the main instrument for data collection. From the findings, the nature or the way jobs are designed the college of economics and management has led to high levels of employee satisfaction since it is well designed most of the employees are satisfied with the feedback given to them by their supervisors, the autonomy give to them whoever some are not satisfied with it. From the findings, the researcher recommended the Organizations should therefore take job design very seriously because it is one of the most potent forms of incentive, which could trigger workers' satisfaction which leads to efficiency, effectiveness, quality customer service delivery and many more and concluded that basing on the findings, the effect of job design on employee satisfaction should never be underestimated. Any attempt to assume that job design is irrelevant to satisfaction and performance is hazardous to the good name and long term survival of any organization because absenteeism, high turnover of labor and low performance will each take its toll on the organization and therefore job design need to be looked into.
