ABSTRACT
The socio-economic background of an individual can never be separated from the immediate environment within which the day to day activities of the individual revolves. Based on this assertion the occupation, culture, dressing and behaviour of people is a direct reflection of their immediate surroundings and to a great extent affects their social and business mindset.
Therefore this research work is embarked upon to determine the socio-economic background on entrepreneurship capacity of Agro-based enterprises in Abia state, Nigeria.     
In the course of this work, the researcher reviewed existing literary works that appear to have some theoretical relevance to the research work and indicated their relevance to the subject matter. Data from both primary and secondary sources were employed to make the work a success.
The study area Abia state, Nigeria had a population of 1125 Entrepreneurs and workers in Agro-based enterprises from which a sample size of 295 respondents was chosen.  
The three hypothesis formulated for the study were tested using the chi-square (X2) statistical formula and it was discovered among other findings that 
-There is positive effect of socio-economic background on entrepreneurship capacity in Abia state.
-The growth in the number of Agro-based enterprises in Abia state can be attributed to the socio-economic background of the state.
-Entrepreneurship capacity of Agro-based enterprises has helped promotion of new ideas and methods of production in Abia state.
Finally, this summary of all the research done as well as recommendations and conclusion on the subject matter were presented.
