ABSTRACT

Contraception play an important role in the life of men and women and is viewed in the wider work context of sexual and reproductive health.

Family planning is the arrangement, spacing and limited wishes and socio - circumstance of the parents. But due to their culture, people of Oloku do not always agree to family planning method.

The reason for this work was to collect information relevant to the aim of study.

Know factors which hinder knowledge and support of family planning, correct miscommunications and present recommendation which would promote family planning.

The significance of the study was based on the ground that the findings would help to identify the effect of culture on family planning. The study would also serve to create awareness and educate the community on the importance of family planning and help reduce the incident of unwanted babies and juvenile delinquencies arising from lack of parental care.

The research design was non experiment design using exploratory and analytics approach in order to find out the effect of culture on family planning among women of child bearing age in Oloku community.

The target population was 600 women of child bearing age (20-40years) and out of which 60 women were selected as research sample using simple random sampling technique.

The researcher used questionnaire as an instrument to collect data and 60 copies of the questionnaire were distributed to the respondents by the researcher and same retrieved after filling.
