Abstract A study was carried out among teenagers aged 10 – 17 years in Ddundu Village, Kyampisi Division, Mukono District with the purpose of identifying the factors contributing to early childhood marriage. A descriptive study design was employed and 30 (thirty) respondents were selected using simple random sampling method. Data collection from the respondents was by use of semi structured questionnaire with both open and closed ended questions. Findings from this study showed that they faced various social economic factors contributing to early marriage among female teenagers. For instance, 20 (67%) were involved in a sexual relationship, 9 (45%) had been involved in sexual relationships for 2 – 3 years,10 (33.3%) respondents were between 15 – 16 years at sexual debut, 19 (63.3%) did not take alcohol or illegal substances, 26 (86.7%) agreed that it was easy for teenagers to access substances such as alcohol and drugs, 30 (100%) agreed that other teenagers were involved in early sex. Respondents did not face many cultural factors contributing to early marriage among female teenagers aged 13 – 19 years. For instance, 23 (76.7%) reported that their culture did not encourage or promote early marriage, 20 (67%) reported that their family viewed early marriages negatively because they were still too young, 18 (60%) agreed that it was dangerous for teenage girls to get married because they were still young and not able to handle the pressures of marriage. However, all of the respondents 30 (100%) mentioned greed of parents to get bride price as cultural factor influencing early marriage. In conclusion, the researcher noted that teenagers faced many factors which contributed to early marriages and this required immediate addressing to reduce this problem.
