1.1      BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
Scientist will  say that the world has existed many millions of years. However,  the world as a unit where several of it parts have come to have close contact and interaction with one another and to recorgnise themselves as sharing a common humanity. Globalisation reflects man’s common humanity, a desire to explore and break barriers and to conquer both territory and forces, and to constrain them.
TODAY, terms like  “Colonization and imperialism” are no longer fashionable to deserve the extension of influence, power and dominance of a stronger nation over the weaker one(s) Globalisation and/or its sister concepts of villagisation and Universalism now seem more appropriate to describe the rather asymmetrical relationship between the developed and developing worlds. Sequel to development and reducing the  world into a village thereby increasing efficiency  and effectiveness in management. It is in  fifteenth century  with thw Portuguese, Spanish and the such voyages of discovery, a phenomenon  that has come generally  to be reffered to as globalisation.
However, globalisation  was not handed down from heaven. It was not decreed by the pope, it did not emerge spontaneously. It was created by  the dominant social forces in the world to serve an interest which could no longer be realised  through colonisation as a result of the independence which was rather “awarded” to its beneficiaries (Akindele, 2002)
This study will sddress globalisation as a challenge,  with potential for  good and evil depending on policy responses and, at the cooperate level, a test of managerial leadership competencies. It is an assured fact that globalisation is irreversible.
 1.2               STATEMENT OF PROBLEM.
Projection of globalisation  as an average for Nigeria to overcome the developmental traps that kept it confined to a vicious circle of underdevelopment is in fact, contradictory. The reifies of globalisation on management have raised serious debts if these promises are attainable in this Nigeria setting. Rather than emphasized it, globalisation has jettisoned development in management sector.
It’s organic working is skewes against attaining management objective s sufficiently and effectively.
The enormous responsibility and confidence imposed in NITEL is weaving to NITEL or the tell communications sector. Due to the economic depression and political upheavals’ the country is passing through which is like a vicious cycle has been very callous and catastrophes. These problem are prevalent in various sections of  the economy such as education, oil, banking, agricultural etc.
Government companies, agencies and parasol are not left out. If privatization and commercialization decree of 1988 was accident at curbing some of these  problems the post and Tele communication (P and T)for instance was public limited liability company and a legal entry of its own other parasols affected are the Nigeria porttsple, National Electric Power  Authority, .NEPA PLC, Nigeria Airports Authority. it is hoped that in the nearest future efforts should  be general towards ensuring that huge some  of money are not operations from being working .
1.3              OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY
The objective of the study which should be understand to be the purpose or the aim of studing the impact of globalisation in Nigeria. An in depth  study, Nigerian telecommunication counted (NITEL).
The purpose of this study is to suggest ways to establishing factors impending the smooth operation of globalisation on management in Nigeria. Knowing that the era of Information Technology (I.T) is the other of the day, if an anmendment or precautions taken. The operartion of NITEL and their sevices and the effects to achieve the desired objectives toward reducing the work load on manager and thereby mating an efficient and effectives move  of management in Nigeria.
            This is because the level of technological development in Nigeria and her dependence on foreign technology for her telecommunication affects the service. Technological problem is not the only problem NITEL  has, they also have managerial problem. This is because man-power problem is answered because there are insufficiency of the workers. Not only that training and development programme have been at avery low place and this is responsible for shortage of man-power especially technologists and engineers. The problemof NITEL toward futhering trheir services of the  impact on  globalisation on management in Nigeria rangers  from the problem facing NITEL operations and service are very cogent and astronomical. These problems ranges from;
1.                  Fraud by both Nitel staff and consumers
2.                  The inefficiency in service of NITEL  ranging from no network, no dialing tone.
3.                  The tossing of  telephone service (Toss).
4.                  Indiscriminate cutting of telephone lines
5.                  Failure to repair  damaged facilities.
6.                  Vandalisation of Nitel equipment and facilities.
7.                  The use of obsolete and dilapidated facilities.
The elucidation of these points knowing the prevailing factor that tinder globalisation that is corruption that has eaten deep into  the operations of NITEL. The subscription of telephone lines for example attracts large amount of tips and settlement before the consumer could be connected. The use of bribe for any  services no matter how small it is , such as repair of damaged casle  line, which is a statutory duty lack of competent and qualified personnel most staff even the top level executives are appointed on  political reasons rather than on merit.
However, those problem are not peculiar to NITEL  only but some management organisation.
1.4               RESEARCH QUESTION
1.                  Does globalisation have any impact of on management.
2.                  Does any relationship exsist between globalisation and management
3.                  Does NITEL have updated facilities and equipment for  globalisation
4.                  Does centralisation policy of the various department serviciously affect, their mode of operation.
5.                  Has there been impact of technological break  through in NITEL
RESEARCH HYPOTHESIS
1.                  H0: There is no  positive  impact of globalisation  on management
H1:      There is positive impact of globalisation on management.
2.                  H0: There is no  relationship between  globalisation  and management
H1: there is relationship between globalisation and management.
3.                   H0: There  are no updated facilities and equipment for globalisation in NITEL
H1: There are no updated facilities and equipment for globalisation in NITEL
1.5                       SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
The study is very timely, especially today that all hands are on deck to enhance the development and growth in trend of globalisation in Nigeria economy especially in the Nigerians Communication Industry using NITEL in View. Above all it suggests some of their problem facing NITEL in an lever expecting world as we approach  the next millennium. NITEL is expected  to brace up  to  the colleagues of the 21st century by upgrading it’s facilities and spreading  it’s teracles to meet the fearing demands and aspiration  of the populace. The world now global village will a lot of technological advancement in the field of telecommunications.  This in-depth  research is limited to Enugu alone  for  some reason:-
1.                  It makes quite detailed and elucial  to highlight the various operations of NITEL fore feasibility  studies and critical appraisal of it’s socio-economic  importance. That not withstanding there are reterences generally as regards the telecommunication Industry and telephone seminar most especially.
2.                  The peculiar position  is holds in communication Industry such as being the NITEL Territorial headquarters.
Time and  financial constraint made the study to be limited to NITEL Plc territorial  Headquarters. Enugu. The method  of  research used was  through a  diesel research and limited field research due to time factor. A personal survey research was used during the time collections, presentation and analysis of data were made.
1.7      DEFINITION  OF TERMS
