ABSTRACT A report study was on the problems encountered by learners when teaching mathematics to iearners with specific learning difficulties in Shimba Hills Zone. To get information an interview guide was designed for teachers and questionnaires prepared and distributed to selected schools and teachers. The report presents the description of the research designs, methodology used in collecting, processing and analyzing of data and limitations of the study. A summary of the key issues from empirical and theoretical literature from which comparisons were made in more systematic way to draw inferences was made. Conclusions and recommendations on the study were given out that teachers should use varied teaching methods and use teaching learning materials to help learners grasp the concepts in mathematics. Teachers should also advice and guide learners, show the importance of learning mathematics in one's life.
