ABSTRACT The research study was carried out in Kamwokya, a suburb of Kampala, Nakawa Division, The research aimed at examining the main causes of early pregnancies among young girls under the age of 16, in Kamwokya area. The study would be of great importance to the Division and district authorities, parents and community members as well as city authorities as explained in chapter one. Both secondary and primary data was applied in the study. Qualitative methods of data collection were employed in the study. Quantitative data was analyzed by SPSS while qualitative analysis was done right away from the field. The research established that teenage girls in Kamwokya were consequently rejected after they conceived, since the society traditionally concludes that such girls later hold no value in society. Thus, such girls suffer neglect in the end. The study concluded that there is need for community members of Kamwokya area, to join hands to establish and offer full support to their young generation in terms of counseling and sensitization. This would help reduce on the occurrence of teenage pregnancies in the area and else where in the world.
