ABSTRACT 

This is a study about the effect of teaching methods on the performance of the 

pupils in science subjects.A case study of Lagoro Sub-county m Kitgum district, the teaching methods in 

science to the pupils.It was both qualitative and quantitative to give better ideas of the study. The 

sample size was small and the methods of sampling included purposive stratified 

and random sampling on how science was taught in primary schools. The study 

sought to establish the analysis on teaching methods in science. 

The study was across sectional survey based on random sampling design which 

facilitated the achievement of the study objective that includes: 

To examine how role play affect academic achievement of pupils in science. 

To find out how group discussion affect performance of science pupils. 

To assess the effect of demonstration method on the performance of pupils in 

science.To examine the extent to which discovery method affects performance of science 

pupils in primary schools. 

To assess the effects of expository methods on the academic achievement of science 

pupils in primary schools.
