ABSTRACT The study was about Family background and sanitation practice in selected schools in bududa district in eastern Uganda that was in line with examining how family background affects students’ sanitation practice in communities and identifying ways of improving sanitation hygiene in schools after it has been found that family background has a great effect on sanitation hygiene In this study, different sources of infonnation were used that is to say, other scholars these journals, magazines, periodical articles, other research studies and websites. One of the three methods of collecting primary data was used that is survey. The information was gathered from the students, by responding the questionnaire, as the data collection instrument split half teclmique of reliability testing was used in data analysis The study used a descriptive survey design. The population of this study was 100 students from 5 selected secondary schools in Bududa district. The sample size was selected by use of solvens fonnulae .The research instruments used to collect primary data was were questionnaires The study thus found out that there should always be continuous and effective home sensitization about sanitation hygiene practice for the achievement of good health at homes for children The study showed the following recommendations were made that the ministry of health and ministry of education to sensitize schools and communities on using clean water and stay in clean compounds
