ABSTRACT This study focused on the causes of poor performance of students in science subjects within secondary schools. It was conducted in Bamunaniika Sub County, Luwero district although raises a theory and recommendations that could apply in others areas within Uganda. The research had specific objectives as to: - Establish the causes of poor performance of students in science subjects within Bamunanika Sub County. It utilized both quantitative and quantitative methods of study and discipline research design was highly used in presentation and analysis of data and school management committees of four (4) selected secondary schools in Bamunaniika Sub County Luwero district. It was found out that: Most teachers of sciences were not well qualified and had a little experience in teaching, Schools in this area rarely carry out career days to guide teaching, Much of the time allocated on time table is on other subjects unlike sciences which were allocated a few hours with a perception that learners have learnt enough sciences since primary. This is especially so in senior three and four and Students commonly pass art subjects than science subjects.
