Thiswork seeks to examine the role the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has played over the years in dealing with societal problems in Nigeria.  The historical method was adopted in the study.  Library research was carried out.  Needed information was obtained from textbooks, journals and documents of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN). Also internet materials related to the topic were use.  Findings show that:  the church in Nigeria had been responding to societal problems in the country through the activities of individual church denominations and organizations before the formation of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN). The formation of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) was born out of the need for a united action of the church in dealing with societal problems.  The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has since inception made remarkable efforts in dealing with societal problems such as corruption and religious crises.  The activities of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) have led to Christian unity, and inter-religious dialogue.  The activities of CAN have also put to a stop the subsequent threats to islamize Nigeria.  The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has therefore, played and is still playing the role expected of the church in the present day Nigeria.
