ABSTRACT The Study focused on the role of electronic media in sensitizing electorates during Presidential and Parliamentary elections. The study establishes the relationship between the CBS and the public (electorates) through sensitizing them on what to do during Presidential and Parliamentary elections. The study involves the following objectives: To examine the roles of CBS in sensitizing electorates during the 2011 Presidential and Parliamentary elections. ii) To assess the challenges of CBS in sensitizing electorates in the 2011 Presidential and Parliamentary elections. iii To establish strategies played by the CBS in sensitizing electorates in the 2011 Presidential and Parliamentary elections. Regarding findings, the information collected through questionnaires permitted the researcher to interpret and analyze the findings. The researcher distributed 80 questionnaires and all were returned dully filled. This was 100 percent which makes the research results valid. Conclusively, the government should examine ways of ensuring respect for the principles of fairness, balance and impartiality in the coverage of election campaigns h the media and consider the adoption of measures to implement these principles in their domestic or practice where appropriate and in accordance with constitutional law. The research recommends, CBS to provide equal platform coupled with equal reporting all candidates for government and opposition side and trained professional journalist can follow the code of professional journalism so as to promote democracy in the country of Uganda.
