ABSTRACT

Ecotourism resources are natural and cultural features that attract visitors, such a s landscapes, endemic and rare flora and fauna, cultural festivals and historic monuments. Endowment of any site with natural attractive features is one of the important indicators of a successful development
of ecotourism, as simulation of ecotourism resources can significantly affect patronage by making experience unnatural.
In the face of degradations of natural resources and lack of alternative options, there are ecotourism resources in Prof. Afolayan Wildlife Park. The major objective of this study is interpreting, assessing and estimating these ecotourism resources for sustainable use of natural resources which will improve conservation and management strategy of the park; thus, presenting the resources in the park as self-interpretative.This research was conducted using Reconnaissance survey, Field survey, Secondary data and Oral interview with the park staff. Related problems of natural resource management were also noted with possible solutions. The results obtained were analyzed using descriptive statistics and presented in the form of tables and bar chart. The study revealed that Prof. Afolayan Wildlife Park is endowed with limited but unique ecotourism resources such as, flora and fauna, avifauna and ecotourism facilities and services such as, picnic site, museum, website, quarantine house, children playing ground. The result revealed that a lot need to be done in the wildlife park to bring ecotourism up to the level of a viable revenue yielding industry. Besides, if the limited ecotourism resources are
properly and fully harnessed, it would increase touristsꞌ influx in the area.
