       ABSTRACT

The study examined the  analysis of resource use efficiency of small scale broiler farmers in  Jos north L.G.A of Plateau state, Nigeria. Data were collected randomly from 80 respondents.  Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, efficiency model and gross margin analysis. The result showed that 61.25% of the respondents were male, 53.75% fall between 26-30 years of age,63.75% were married,33.75% has the household size of 1-3 persons. 58.75% had secondary education and 48.75% had farming experience of 1-3 years, The study also revealed that the utilization of the investigated input factors was inefficient with the ratio of MVP to MFC is being less than unity for all the included inputs.  The resources in the farm were over utilized include; flock size, feed, brooding and housing, labor and medication. The total revenue obtained  was ₦231,820.64, with total cost of ₦105,191.14, Gross margin of 128,402.39 while net farm income was ₦126,629.5 and return per Naira invested of ₦1.17 which shows viability of the business. It Is concluded that the resources were not efficiently utilized but it is still profitable, but proper management will lead to efficiency of resources used The major constraints of small scale broiler farmers  in the study area are; high cost of inputs and market price fluctuation. The study recommends that the poultry farmers should form a cooperative union which will help stabilize and regulate the marketing activities, they should also form groups which they will buy the feeds in bulk, since buying in bulk has an advantage of discount and they should be train on how to use resources efficiently.
