ABSTRACT

The research project examines the impact of monetary policy on commercial Banks Loan and Advances in Nigeria, using a annual time series from 1980-2006.

In order to study if thoroughly monetary policy affects commercial banks loans and Advances in Nigeria. The research work made use of both descriptive and econometric approach.

The econometric approach was use in the presentation of estimation of result and interpretation of the ordinary least square methods (OLS) technique, using a multiple repression analysis to analysis the specified model. An electronic econometric software package of (SPSS 12 version) was used for the estimation of the OLS in the study.

By and large, based on the data presented to text the hypothesis, the result reviews that there exist a correlation between the monetary policy and commercial banks loans and Advance, with R2 of 0.62 and other determinants of loans and Advances in commercial banks in Nigeria.
