ABSTRACT
This research work examines the waste management and environmental control in Enugu state. The researcher picked Enugu south local government area as a case study in order to find its problems and effect to the environment. The objectives of this study is to determine the best methods for proper waste disposal, to assess the impact of ESWAMA in Enugu state environment cleaning and also to assess the efforts of both the local and state government towards effective management. Five (5) research questions were developed by the researcher; and the response to the questions were obtained through the research instrument (questionnaire). Data for the research were collected from primary sources as well as secondary sources. In data presentation and analysis, frequency tables and percentages were used; by which 330 copies of questionnaire were analyzed. Some findings were made; the local and state government is not relenting in waste management effort, it was discoursed that government usually provides vehicles with which refuse dumped at some areas are immediately evacuated from the streets. Several recommendations were made for effective waste management in Enugu south L.G.A
