ABSTRACT
The evaluation of antimicrobial activities of five (5) brands of differentlocally produced
soap sold in Owo Local Government Area of Ondo state was carried out against
some selected pathogenic organisms (Staphylococcus
aureus,Enterobacteraerogenes,Bacillus cereus,Shigelladysentaries,Salmonella typhin,
Candida albicans,Aspergillusfumigatus). Usually, the antimicrobial analyses
of the soap samples were analysed. The analysis of antimicrobial activities of locally
produced soaps against the pathogenic organisms was carried out using
concentration 1g/2ml for all the soap respectively. The pour plates method was
used to obtained the zone of inhibition of the locally produced soaps onthe
test organisms. The result shows that locally produced soaps exhibited
antimicrobial activities against all the test organisms, when compared with
antibiotics.
