EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The global energy market is looking for new sources of  non-conventional energy whereby existing methods of energy generation like Solar Photovoltaics have technologically surged. This advancement has led to higher adoption by  consumers in  residential and commercial sectors. Government policies have also been favourable in support of implementation Solar Energy Generation Systems. In such a scenario there exists a need to analyse the economic potential  of  solar  PV’s  and  their  financial  impact  created  in  terms  of  individual  consumer utility. As the different types of consumers rely on Solar PV’s for energy generation, a singular figure pinpointing cost benefit is difficult to derive as the costs related to Solar Energy systems are affected by many environmental factors that are both internal and external like geographic location, supporting government policies, Panel efficiency of systems, Maintenance cost etc. Hence  through  a  thorough  analysis  of  such  similar  factors  and  taking  into  considerations several assumptions, approximations can be made which would benefit the end consumer and in approaching to decide the right Solar PV system and also eliminate the chances for loss in their investment decision. As India slowly approaches the goal of producing sustainable energy this research would help Indian consumers in understanding the potential of Solar PV’s in energy generation and also provide insights on identifying relevant parameters into selection of Solar Energy Generation systems.
