ABSTRACT

This project is about the geophysical method with special emphasis on the use of resistivity method for groundwater exploration. the project was conducted at tarauni local government area of kano state. ABEM SAS 300C terramiter was used, electrodes, cables, reels of wire, and hammer are also used. the study area was generally underline by three (3) to four (4) geoelectrical/geological layer. the lateric soil has resistivity of 212 ohms-meter with thicness of 1.6 meter and depth of 1.6 meter, sandy clay has resistivity value of 119 ohm-meter with thickness of 6 meter and depth of 7.5 meter, weathered basement has resistivity value of 506.2 ohm-meter with thickness of 16.8 meter and depth of 21.5 meter, lastly fractured basement has resistivity value of 2807.2 ohm-meter with an unknown thickness and unknown depth. the storage elements for groundwater in tarauni local government are weathered basement and fractured basement. weathered basement is most important component of the aqufer in tarauni local government basin.
