ABSTRACTThe viability of any business organization be it public or private depends on the set up of it’s financial planning and control to all business, money is the means and end.
This work therefore critically look at the impact of financial planning and control on public owned companies with Benue State Agricultural Development company as a main focus. The various tools of financial planning and control such as short term debts retained earnings, credit control employed by the company towards achieving this lofty goal in the life of the company were examined and ascertained their effective contribution or otherwise.
The study established that the poorly financial planning and control is responsible for that fast eroding financial base public corporation. This find was arrived through indepth research on the financial planning and control tools employed. Data collected were analyzed and presented in a tabular form and interpreted.
Very useful conclusion and recommendations based on the research findings are made at the later part of this project. It is earnestly believed that if those recommendations were adopted, the management and the financial base of public corporation would be turned round for good.
