ABSTRACT
This seminar “Processes of Production and treatment of portable water” was meant to study the purification of water and the technique employed in achieving a clean portable water for domestic and industrial use suitable for human consumption. Having sourced materials for this research in internet and library, I proceeded to Enugu State Water Corporation where I found out that this seminar helped in exposing those criteria, maintained in order to obtain a portable water suitable for human consumption. Water which has both physical, biological and chemical characteristics; impurities in the water determine the temperature, colour, tests, odour, turbidity and hardness. This it causes a shrinking health condition if these impurities are found present in it. Treating waste water or untreated water which contained poisonous compounds that does not promote a healthy living in order to meet the standard of water quality stipulated by some authorities like World Health Organization (WHO) and National Agency for Food and Drug Administration Control (NAFDAC), the processes mentioned in this seminar should be followed to obtain a high quality water which would not be harmful to the health when consumed.
