ABSTRACT
This research is on “Effect of Inventory Control on Profitability of a Business Organization" (A case study of Nigeria Bottling Company Plc). The study used both primary & secondary sources of data collection. Questionnaires were used to elicit the views of the respondents on whether inventory control has effect on the profitability of a business organization. Correlation coefficients were used in analyzing the data collected. Some of the problems facing soft drinks companies are those of procurement of raw materials, inventory management and control. These come about as a result of the inability of these companies to calculate the economics order quality and the various control levels used in the management of stock. The major purposes of this research on inventory control system are:
• To have a general and critical review of managing problems arising from stock of the soft drink industry.
• To check the problems of determining the E.O.Q.
• The Bi-annual stock taking adopted by the NBC Plc to be used as a case study.
Fifty (5) samples were used and two (2) hypotheses tested. The research among others made the following findings.
• The NBC Plc is such a large company that every major section of its operation is now fully computerized and the stores staffs are given periodic training.
