INTRODUCTION
BACKGROUND TO THE STUDY
Of all the problem facing the human race in the world today, that of rapid population growth is a major one. All over the world, medical science have succeeded in reducing the death of infants and children especially in advanced countries such as United States of America (USA), Britain, France, etc also in Nigeria there is increase in population especially in the present situation where polygamy is the order of the day in many homes.
This rapid population increase makes it impossible for the government to provide essential social services like housing, transport, sanitation, social security and improved quality of health and educational systems. Majority of the criminals and large percentage of juvenile delinquents in the society today came from families which are usually too large for parents to control. In most developing countries like India and Nigeria, the problem of over population is very acute and this problem retards the growth of the economy of these nations it therefore, becomes necessary for every parent or married couples to limit the size of his or her children, that the number of children brought into the world would be a blessing rather than curse to civilization, especially in a society where parenthood has been thrown to the wind.
Offspring being a sense of states to both parents and a sense of adequacy as a person. Many of our cultural values and concepts emphasize the importance of child bearing for instance, parenthood proves ones family or masculinity. In the light of this rapid population growth and its attendant problems are expressed above, the need for sex education cannot be over emphasized. Many countries that have over population problems are now trying to check this trend and Nigeria is not an exception. Hence it is necessary to establish a basic for the introduction of sex education techniques to the people; sex education will certainly minimize this type of social problems.
