ABSRTACT

Accurate and easy to use Farm Management Information  Systems (FMIS) areof  fundamental  importance  for  a  successful  operational  farm  management. However, still today many farmers do not use FMISs for various reasons, like lackof knowledge and the complexity of many available FMISs. In particular for smallto  medium-sized  farms  and  for  multifunctional  farms  appropriate  FMISs  hardlyexist. This  research  project  work  aims  on  the  deduction  of  a  FMIS.  The  FMIS  has  tofocus  on  the  needs  of  medium-sized  and  multifunctional  farms.  Therefore,  SidiMamman  farm  was  picked  as  a  case-study  to  apply  a  system analysis.  The  casestudy  farm  helps  to  identify  and  to  analyze  relevant  material  and  informationflows, production processes, and their interconnections and synergies. The design was taken in order to make the organization’s activities more effectiveand efficient to increase performance by making farm record and information saferand faster in retrieving such information. The problems were identified after seriesof interviews and observation after which analysis was made and a computerizedsystem  was  recommended.  The  new  system  was  designed  using  PHP,  VisualBasic, and MySQL as database.
